Pippin's Question Box

The Question Box is no longer on this blog, but the old rules are available here for archive purposes.  If you want to visit the new blog, please click here.

Note: you need to write your own answer, not just cut and paste it!
The Question Box is a weekly extra-credit question that you can answer as a comment. It appears every Wednesday. Here are some things to know:
Judging: The winners are picked by SunnyD or me, and they have to be worthy of being picked. If they're wrong, not thorough, or plain not good enough for either of us, you won't get the extra credit. Answering the question does not automatically earn you extra credit.
Sources: You should provide some sort of outside source for us to check your answer because we won't know the answers to some of the questions- in fact, most of the questions will probably be questions we don't know. You should always provide a link. Someone with a link to verify their answer is already better off than someone without.
Labels: After every question there will be a hint as to what we're looking for. The two most common labels will be "best" and "fast." Best means that it should be a thorough and explains your answer so it makes sense. Fast means that while it is an easy question, you have to be one of the first people answering it to get the extra credit. In either case, you should still provide a link and your answers should still be accurate.Pay attention to labels, they tell you how to answer the question.

General Advice: Take your time, provide links, and be accurate. We won't always know the answer, so don't bug us. Be wary of tricky questions and making sure you have a source (the more, the better). Read the question very carefully- two part questions could need two sources or more. If no answers are good enough, no one gets the extra credit (so just because everyone else's answer is worse than yours doesn't mean that yours is good). Please don't cut and paste your answer. Write your own answer and make it worth reading!
Make sure to post your answer as a comment, otherwise it may be overlooked.
